I have been a General practitioner in Alberta since 1979, including collaborative family law, estates, corporations and real estate. If I don’t do it, I probably know someone who does. My clients are all around the province but mostly in South Edmonton, Leduc, and the Camrose-Wetaskiwin area. About 11 years ago, I “discovered” the Collaborative Divorce Process and found it so positive for both families and lawyers. The mediation training and interest-based negotiation techniques studied in gaining my Collaborative accreditation have proved helpful in all my areas of practice. The Collaborative approach teaches us to be hard on the PROBLEM, not the PEOPLE. Fast but thorough resolution of complex problems is the way to go.
While I don’t specialize in Family Law, I have found my extensive legal experience in many other areas often proves useful in preparing settlement agreements which minimize expense and ensure the parties co-operate well after the collaborative process is complete.
