Geeta Bharadia, QC is a senior collaborative family law lawyer with extensive quasi-judicial and mediation experience. Her practice is focused on collaborative family law as well as mediation of family issues and is growing her arbitration practice. Geeta was one of the first group of collaborative practitioners in Alberta and she has advanced training including interdisciplinary collaborative practice. Geeta recently has been the interim Chair of the Family Section of the Association of Conflict Resolution (and international organization focusing on mediation) and is Past President and Registrar of Alberta Family Mediation Society (AFMS). She has been recognized with the Dr. John Haynes Memorial Award for her outstanding contribution to family mediation in the Province of Alberta. In most cases, Geeta believes the main goal is to use creative approaches to find a resolution with which both parties can agree and that court is a last resort. Many of her collaborative law files have involved more complex financial issues related to the family and business and she has successfully concluded many collaborative family matters. Her quasi-judicial and decision-making work has included completing her term as Full-time Commissioner (and Acting Chief in the absence of the Chief) and current member of the Law Enforcement Review Board.
