Introduction to Interdisciplinary Collaborative Practice Training

Event Details

  • Date: June 18, 2026 6:00 pm – 20, 2026 4:30 pm
  • Venue: Evario Events Centre

The Collaborative Divorce Alberta Association (CDAA) is offering an upcoming Introduction to Interdisciplinary Collaborative Practice training for professionals interested in expanding their practice and supporting families through a more respectful, out-of-court approach to separation.

This three-day training, taking place June 18–20, 2026, in Edmonton, is a required course for professionals seeking certification as a Registered Collaborative Professional.

What is Collaborative Practice?

Collaborative Practice is a voluntary, out-of-court process used to resolve family law matters. Rather than turning to litigation, each party works with collaboratively trained professionals who are committed to helping families reach mutually acceptable agreements.

A key feature of this model is the interdisciplinary team approach, where lawyers, financial professionals, divorce coaches, and mental health professionals work together to support informed decision-making, effective communication, and child-focused outcomes.

This approach helps reduce conflict, preserve relationships, and create more durable agreements for families navigating separation.

About the Training

This foundational training provides participants with a comprehensive introduction to the collaborative model, including:

  • The principles and structure of Collaborative Practice
  • The roles of interdisciplinary team members
  • Communication and problem-solving strategies
  • Best practices for collaborative files

Participants will leave with a strong understanding of how collaborative teams function and how to apply these principles in practice.
