Rebecca M. J. Cuthbertson Hulst has been a Registered Collaborative Family Lawyer since 2010. Since her Call to the Bar in 2003, her passion has been Family Law, and she primarily practices in the areas of *Child Representation, Lawyer-Facilitated Mediation, and Collaborative Family Law. Her firm, Torch Law & Mediation, has the motto: “Lighting the pathways to resolution.” When families are in turmoil, they may feel their options are limited or too confusing to understand. Rebecca explains the law generally to her clients so they can feel comfortable exploring their legal options and confident when they have reached an amicable settlement outside of Court. If a matter requires Independent Legal Advice, assistance with obtaining a Joint Divorce, or simply a basic explanation of the law as it applies to families in Alberta, Rebecca is also available on a limited-scope basis.
[*Rebecca represents children and youth either as an interest-based advocate or ‘friend of the Court’ to presence their interests during negotiations outside of Court and before the Court at Applications and Trials. She is not hired directly by children nor one of their parents, however. Unless she is hired by agreement of both parents, a Court Order or appointment by the Legal Representation for Children and Youth [LRCY] Office is required.]
