I understand that when a person comes to talk to me, it is to deal with one of the most difficult situations they have ever faced. I know that the world seems off kilter and confusing, and the uncertainty of the future may make it difficult to imagine solutions.
I’m excited to practice collaborative law because it places the ability to take control of these issues and challenges squarely in the hands of my clients while they receive all the support and guidance they need.
I believe it is the greatest call of a lawyer to truly understand a client’s life and situation and to help that client find a solution. My greatest pleasure is for clients to regain their footing and be capable of moving forward, while leaving behind the negativity, and eventually the pain, by a resolution they have participated in and are satisfied with.
In addition to being a lawyer, I’ve been a musician for more than 25 years, playing all styles of music (but mostly jazz and classical) with all kinds of “musical collaborators”. I also spent 15 years at MacEwan University as a music educator. For a time I followed my interests in specialty coffee and food, spending time building a small business before beginning practice as a lawyer.
I’m the father of two energetic and curious children and have more than 75 in-laws to consider at holiday times. My family and I love to spend time outside, biking, hiking and skiing in the mountains. We also spend significant time practicing and teaching martial arts.
