Shivaan earned his Juris Doctor (Hons.) from Bond University in Australia, but completing the program at the University of Saskatchewan. Prior to law school, he attended the University of Alberta where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Economics.  Shivaan was born and raised in Edmonton, but left to live in various cities across Canada and internationally, and returned to his hometown after 15 years. From his travels, he has continued to develop a respectful and deep appreciation of the various social and cultural perspectives that have also been interwoven as part of Canadian life and homes.

Since graduating from law school, he has practiced in Ontario, BC, and Alberta. Besides family law, Shivaan has also dedicated significant time to other unique areas. He has practiced in entertainment law (music, performance, publication, gaming and film), insurance, business and not-for-profit, internet and technology, intellectual property (copyright and trademark) as well as criminal justice. His experience in these areas have complimented his family law practice.

In his practice, he relentlessly aims to provide empathetic educative guidance and the tools to foster positive dialogue with other involved. He equips his clients with meaningful plans to implement in their lives, thoughtful considerations in settlement discussions, or practical strategies in court proceedings that aim for lasting resolutions.

Shivaan has been called to the bars of Alberta (2016), British Columbia (2015) and Ontario (2014), and has appeared on family law matters at all levels of court in Alberta, including the Court of Appeal.
