Marcus Sixta is an accredited family law mediator and collaborative divorce lawyer who also has experience in court running family law trials. Marcus founded Crossroads Law in 2017, a family law firm operating out of Calgary, Alberta and Vancouver, British Columbia. Crossroads Law offers family law clients alternative billing structures and service delivery, including unbundled legal services and legal coaching. Marcus believes that access to justice in the family law system is improved by offering unbundled legal services and legal coaching because these services are generally more affordable than the traditional family law retainer.
Before becoming a lawyer, Marcus was a social worker and he uses this training and experience in his mediation and collaborative divorce practice. Marcus believes that most relationship conflicts can be resolved in mediation and that a mediated family law settlement will generally provide a more resilient and family centred outcome than a court decision.
Marcus is called to the bar in both BC and Alberta and regularly attends mediations, arbitrations and court in both provinces.
